Sunny: To be honest, I’d rather not answer that question
Clauds: It was probably my pet when I was younger
Harji: I was around 6 years old
Shanti: I think I was about 15 or 16
Gabs: I was 7/8 at the time
Mac: It was snowing. It was at night. And I was in the hospital
Shanti: And I think it was hard knowing it was coming
Mac: I was holding his hand, and I kind of knew that’s the last time he’s alive.
Harji: I think I was more emotional that I didn’t get to say ggoodbye
Gabs: My grandmother passed away, and it was the first time I ever saw someone, my mum go through grief
Do you remember the first time you experienced grief? We all have our different story to share. And for 9 year old boy Jamie, it was an entirely different adventure.
Sophie’s Map is a short film about how young Jamie who recently lost his sister. So his last adventure with her, he tries to find his own feelings and he learns how to deal with grief in his own imaginative way.
Jamie takes on the world with an Indiana Jones attitude, courageous and imaginative. For him, every journey is an adventure,  and every challenge is an expedition. But for Sophie, Sophie’s quiet and artistic and her personality sets her aside from Jamie. But despite their differences they have a sibling bond that’s unbreakable.
The nostalgic journey will allow the audience to reflect back on the simpler times. But as it’s called, the film is about how a child has lost his sister and how he has to struggle through that.
And we’re a student grad film from the University of Westminster. We need your help, your support to fund this film.
The minimum we need to make this film is £3500. Most of the money will be spent on the 5 locations that we need, and also to hire out our professional child actors. We also need to keep them warm and well fed while on the shoot and hope to cover the travel expense for our cast and crew. Every pay will be poured into the film and the more you give, the better we can make it!
Jamie reminds us that we have all been kids once and used our imagination during the good times and the bad. We all have different ways to deal with difficult emotions but we’ve also all played pretend, and we’ve all had adventures that we’ve conquered.
Every penny counts so please help us on this quest and join us on our adventure!

Everyone get asks the question: what was your first experience with grief, when did that happen and how did you feel? (harji can have fun cutting them together)

With our film we want to explore experience of the grief in the perspective of a child, especially as we were all children once. At its core, the film centres around a child struggling with the loss of his sister. The nostalgic journey will allow the audience to reflect back on the simpler times.

Quick cuts of the team introducing ourselves
And who we want to be and then we beg people to help us make our dreams come true.

And we’re a student grad film from the University of Westminster, and the beginning of our careers in the film industry. This is why it’s so important that we have your support in getting our film into production.

The minimum we need to make this film is £3500. We will be spending that money on paying our child actors as well as taking care of their chaperone. The money will also go into ambitiously looking for 4 to 5 locations and covering any travel expenses for the cast and crew. We also want to ensure that our cast and crew are warm, well-fed, and taken care of during the shoot. Every penny will be poured into the film and the more we raise, the better we can make the film!

  • paying our actors
  • 4 - 5 locations & travel expenses
  • keeping our cast and crew warm and fed
  • every penny matters! the more we raise the better!

As an audience we have seen numerous films on how adults deal with grief and with our film we want to explore this experience in the perspective of a child, especially as we were all children once. At its core, the film centres around a child struggling with the loss of his sister. The nostalgic journey will allow the audience to reflect back on the simpler times.

The minimum we need to make this film is £3500 as we are working with professional child actors. Due to the nature of this film we will also be using at least 3 different locations, unfortunately hiring locations are very expensive and so are travel costs to get the entire cast, crew and equipment there, so our budget will largely be spent on this. As our entire crew are all volunteering to help we have budgeted for food on set. Our team of 6 is taking care of all pre-production aspects, additionally we have an MA (Audio Production) student on board so we have a unique soundtrack that is vital in telling the story.
