Story Development Basic story line It’s a Saturday and Jamie is in his room packing. (Dramatic Expendtion). Jamie is about to leave his room and Alice is on the stairs outside playing with sticks. Jamie tells Alice that he is looking for his sister and there is a map. They first go to an Farmer’s Market as Alice looks for Sophie’s picture on Facebook and Jamie opens up his book. They go to the ice cream parlour. They go to the art store. They go to the memorial spot where Sophie had her car crash. Case study : Lord of the flies   The book focuses on a group of British boys stranded on an uninhabited island and their disastrous attempt to govern themselves. Objective: Building a Character/Theme   I will be analysing   the themes and characters that have similarity towards our storyline.   Characters Ralph  -  The novel’s protagonist, the twelve-year-old English boy who is elected leader of the group of boys marooned on the island. Ralph attempts to coordinate the boys’ efforts to build a miniature civilization on the island until they can be rescued. Ralph represents human beings’ civilizing instinct, as opposed to the savage instinct that Jack embodies. Case study: inside out   Storyline:   Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. Case study: Grave of the Fire Flies   Storyline: Grave of the Fireflies” (1988) is an animated film telling the story of two children from the port city of Kobe, made homeless by the bombs. Seita is a young teenager, and his sister Setsuko is about 5. Their father is serving in the Japanese navy, and their mother is a bomb victim; Seita kneels beside her body, covered with burns, in an emergency hospital. Their home, neighbors, schools are all gone. For a time an aunt takes them in, but she’s cruel about the need to feed them, and eventually Seita finds a hillside cave where they can live. He does what he can to find food, and to answer Setsuko’s questions about their parents. The first shot of the film shows Seita dead in a subway station, and so we can guess Setsuko’s fate; we are accompanied through flashbacks by the boy’s spirit. Today we were able to split our group into two so we could focus in the storyline and development of our film  we also thought it would be a good idea to create moodboards and short videos to see our styles and visualisation of what we want to create. 

In todays blog post I will be writing about the characterisation and themes explored through various films which I believe could be implemented within our storyline and characters. The current storyline produced by the screenwriting team explores the relationship of a brother and sister. Synopsis- in this post apocalyptic setting where all information disintegrated; technology, libraries, museum, and we see the sister alone in a desolate space, perhaps picking things up on her way home, having a conversation with her brother. and only at the end you realise her brother wasn't really there with her nor maybe even alive at all, she's reliving whatever she has left of him of video diaries. the innocence of a child and how they haven't been tainted by the world and its vices? What if the sister is a little girl looking for her older adult brother? That's why she seems so much more sane and not as affected as the rest of the world about it, ignorance is bliss, you...

Here is a quick idea of what what the script writing team created and from here we will start to develop ideas and looking into different case studies to supports and further strength this idea of 'knowledge is power' an developing the two characters. Ive already started to look into the characters and chose different case studies to look into.

(title) follows two characters that live with the new hard truth; technology has failed mankind, every single digital library, money, and personal data in the cloud has disintegrated and all that’s left are the fleeting information our brain can retain. Everyone’s scrambling in the chaos of the Great Tech Depression, holding onto whatever little they have left. The scarce personal information has become key in bartering for what people need. Our character are pushed to see how far they’d go to get what they want  I had this idea to tell the story in the post apocalyptic setting. In the world where there is no electronic devices and the whole web and mass communication media are gone. We lost everything what was online and ability to use more complicated electronic devices.
